On the road towards COP 30: engaging citizens in global climate negotiations
a panel featuring Nicole Curato (University of Birmingham), Bernardo Jurema (RIFS Potsdam), Andreas Bummel (Democracy without Borders), and Azucena Moran (RIFS Potsdam)moderated by Melisa Ross (University of Bremen)
As Brazil launches its Global Mutirão in the lead up to COP30, this panel explores the possibilities and tensions of direct citizen engagement in global climate governance. The discussion will ask how collective, grassroots, and pluriversal approaches might unsettle dominant governance frameworks that have undermined climate action and imperilled the planet’s future. We invite voices too often dismissed as ‘too idealistic’ or ‘unrealistic’ to join us in this space to speak courageously and build solidarities across movements, communities and knowledges. Places are limited so registration is required.
Organized by RIFS Potsdam and GloCAN: the Global Citizens' Assembly Network
