The ISPK Center for Asia-Pacific Strategy and Security cordially invites you to attend our second Kiel Seapower Fireside Chat 2018 at the Hotel Kieler Yacht Club on Monday, April 16th, 2018.  The distinguished speaker will be Bill Hayton, from BBC World News television in London and Associate Fellow with the Asia Programme of Chatham House, who will be giving a talk titled "The South China Sea - History as Problem, History as Solution".

After the talk and Q&A, fingerfood and drinks will be served to enable a leisurely exchange of ideas between the participants. The talk and discussion will be in English.

Bill Hayton was appointed an Associate Fellow with the Asia Programme of Chatham House in 2015. He is the author of 'The South China Sea: the struggle for power in Asia' (Yale, 2014) and 'Vietnam: rising dragon' (Yale, 2010). Bill has worked for the BBC since 1998 and currently works for BBC World News television in London. He was the BBC's reporter in Vietnam In 2006-07 and spent 2013 embedded with Myanmar's state broadcaster working on media reform. Bill Hayton has given presentations about South China Sea and Southeast Asian issues for think-tanks and government institutions in the UK, US, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and elsewhere. His written work has been published in The Economist, the South China Morning Post, The Diplomat and the National Interest, among others. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in London.
