Let's Talk About Careers
14.11.2024 12:00 - 13:00 via Zoom
On November 14th we are having another talk in our lunch talk format - Let's Talk About Careers - in which we invite Alumni who have left academia to talk about their personal career paths. With this format we want to support doctoral researchers and postdocs of the university in their individual career orientation. Participants can find out about career paths outside of academia and meet scientists who have already taken the next career step and talk about their experiences and decision-making. The lunch talk is set up as a short interview with our guest on their personal career path and decision-making process and afterwards there will be room for questions.
For this talk, we are very happy that Dr. Carolin Mehnert has agreed to be our guest. Dr. Mehnert has a doctorate in Critical Race Theory and Theory of Space at the University of Tübingen and the University of California, Irvine, and has worked in anti-discrimination research. She is now Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Lead in the Diversity & Transformation and People Lead in the AI Office at DATEV e.G. In addition, she works as a speaker and consultant for DEI. Her main emphasis is on the strategic implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion with a focus on unconscious bias in corporate decision-making processes, diversity in leadership, intersectionality, reduction of everyday racism, inclusive language and the intersection of diversity and AI (e. g. bias in AI). This latter interface between diversity and AI is personified by her dual role as a leader in both areas.
"Let's Talk About Careers" will take place in English via Zoom. You will receive the Zoom Link with your registration confirmation email.
