Market access to USA / Canada

How TÜV SÜD MHS Testing can support you as a manufacturer with market access in the USA / Canada:

USA OSHA NRTL: A Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) is an independent organisation that certifies products for the US market. NRTLs are recognised by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) under Federal Code 29 CFR 1910.7 for products to be used in United States workplaces. The NRTL certificate provides clear evidence that your electrical and electronic products comply with the required standards of the US market. Without NRTL certification, many retailers will refuse to stock a product. If you cannot provide evidence that you have carried out relevant tests yourself, you may receive a fine.

SCC - Canada: Electrical products sold or imported in Canada must be certified as compliant with technical requirements established in the Canadian Electrical Code. Manufacturers and importers may work with any certification body accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to obtain certification of their products’ compliance.

EMC: Active Medical Devices are evaluated regarding electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) to ensure a safe operation in their environment. The obligations in the US and Canada are not only to fulfil the most common medical EMC standard IEC 60601-1-2, but have now also requirements of a safe operation nearby RFID transmitters, as well as requirements on the performance of medical devices.
