Nüchtern betrachtet ist Identität eine Selbsterzählung und ein Selbsterinnern – kontextabhängig und mehrdeutig. Manch aktuelle Debatte stilisiert sie jedoch zum Schimpfwort.
Warum ist das so? Weshalb wird sie politisch instrumentalisiert? Und wie finden wir einen Umgang mit der Identitätskrise? Dass so lautstark verhandelt wird, zeigt, es geht ums Ganze – um Deutungshoheit, Teilhabe, Macht und Privilegien.
Ein Gespräch darüber, weshalb es stets gilt, genauer hinzuschauen – sei es mit Blick auf die Kontinuität patriarchaler Strukturen, auf Rassismus oder eine lückenhafte Geschichtserzählung. Um multiple Krisen kommen wir (wohl) nicht herum. Sie gehören dazu, in Zeiten des Wandels. Augen auf und durch!

Viewed soberly, identity is a self-narrative and a self-remembering - context-dependent and ambiguous. Some current debates, however, stylise it into a dirty word.
Why is this so? Why is it politically instrumentalised? And how do we deal with the identity crisis? The fact that the debate is so vociferous shows that the whole issue is at stake - sovereignty of interpretation, participation, power and privilege.
A conversation about why it is always necessary to take a closer look - be it with regard to the continuity of patriarchal structures, racism or an incomplete historical narrative. We (probably) cannot avoid multiple crises. They are part and parcel of times of change. Open your eyes and get through!
