Der renommierte Tierfilmer Martin Dohrn spürt in den weiten, unscheinbaren Marschen der Wash-Mündung an Englands Ostküste einem kaum bekannten Naturwunder nach: den gigantischen Schwärmen von Watvögeln, die im Angesicht eines wandernden Mondrhythmus und der Jagd eines Wanderfalken in atemberaubenden Formationen durch die Luft gleiten. Mit unerschütterlicher Leidenschaft verfolgt Dohrn die Spuren dieser Evolution im Zeitraffer – ein Tanz von Leben und Tod, Schönheit und Gefahr. Zugleich wird sein filmisches Unterfangen zu einer sehr persönlichen Reise.
An der Schwelle des eigenen beruflichen Abschieds versucht er, im Schweben der Vögel nicht nur die verborgenen Mechanismen der Natur zu entschlüsseln, sondern auch Sinn und Trost zu finden.

Renowned wildlife filmmaker Martin Dohrn explores a little-known natural wonder in the vast, unassuming marshes of the Wash estuary on England’s east coast: gigantic flocks of wading birds gliding through the air in breathtaking formations, responding to the rhythm of the migrating moon and the hunt of a peregrine falcon. With unwavering passion, Dohrn captures the traces of this evolution in time-lapse—a dance of life and death, beauty and danger. At the same time, his cinematic endeavor becomes a deeply personal journey.
At the threshold of his own professional farewell, he seeks in the birds’ suspension not only to decipher nature’s hidden mechanisms, but also to find meaning and solace.
