Generative AI tools are used across all phases of research – and they bring real opportunities as well as real risks. But depending on when and how you use them, the effect ranges from saving time to quietly reshaping the substance of your findings. The challenge is telling the two apart. This workshop introduces the concept of epistemic impact: a toolkit for assessing, for any given research task, what generative AI can genuinely contribute, where it risks distorting your results, and how to make the distinction across disciplines.
