Practical information:
Pregnancy and childbirth put a lot of strain on the pelvic floor, belly and back. Postpartum recovery exercises help to strengthen the muscles and prevent health problems such as incontinence or back pain. Advice and explanations for the period after the birth, such as the function and strengthening of the pelvic floor, are also included. That's why comfortable clothing is very practical, such as a T-shirt and leggings or jogging pants. We will also do some small theory units.
In the first weeks after birth, the body needs rest and relaxe. You should not start the postnatal exercise until 6 to 8 weeks after delivery at the earliest. By then, the pelvic floor will have stabilized a bit. It is important that nothing hurts. If you had a Caesarean section, it is better to wait 1 to 2 weeks longer. The wound should have healed well and the scar should no longer hurt by the time you start postnatal exercise. If you are unsure about the timing, please feel free to ask.
Participation is voluntary and you can still register if you can't attend all appointments or would like to join later. In that case, please inform the midwife shortly.
You can come alone and enjoy the body work fully for yourself or bring your child with you, so we will have a little co-trainer ;). Ideally, breastfeed or feed your baby beforehand. Of course you can always take a break from the exercises and (breast)feed or change your child's diaper if you need.
We have yoga mats, a few pillows and water on site. If you need something specific, feel free to bring your own drinks, snacks, mat or pillows.
Before and after the course there will always be the opportunity to chat privately with other parents.

The FPZ is also committed to educate future specialists. For this reason, it might be possible that an intern or collegues will join some parts of the course as well, when they're working at the time at the FPZ. Both the participants and we always benefit greatly from this interdisciplinary exchange!
