The University Alliance Ruhr and Ilia State University invite you to a joint event on academic freedom and international cooperation taking place on 7–8 July 2026 at the College for Social Sciences and Humanities in Essen. The event will begin on 7 July from 17:00 to 20:00 and continue on 8 July from 09:00 to 15:00.
In light of recent developments affecting universities in Georgia, the event brings together representatives from academia, university leadership, and research policy to exchange perspectives on academic freedom, present research profiles, and explore ways to strengthen academic cooperation between Georgia and Germany.
Beyond discussion, the event aims to develop concrete perspectives for future collaboration. The second day will include thematic workshops designed to initiate joint activities, develop ideas, and produce tangible outcomes.
Participation is possible on one or both days. The event is organised by the Liaison Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the University Alliance Ruhr.
