Im Zentrum des Dokumentarfilms steht Juma Xipaia, eine furchtlose, indigene Anführerin, die aus einem abgelegenen Dorf an die politischen Frontlinien des Klimaschutzes aufsteigt. Trotz sechs Mordanschlägen erhebt sie ihre Stimme gegen illegale Goldgräber, Landräuber und Konzerne, die den Regenwald bedrohen. Dabei kann sie beständig auf die Unterstützung ihres Ehemannes Hugo Loss setzen, der als Einsatzleiter der Umweltbehörde IBAMA, riskante Operationen gegen Zerstörer des Waldes führt. Schließlich soll sie als erste brasilianische Staatssekretärin für Indigene Rechte ernannt werden.
Zwischen politischer Verantwortung, akuter Gefahr und der Erwartung ihres ersten Kindes verdichtet sich Jumas Weg zu einem bewegenden Porträt von Widerstand und Hoffnung – und zu einem Aufruf, den Planeten, den wir Heimat nennen, zu bewahren.

At the center of this documentary is Juma Xipaia, a fearless Indigenous leader rising from a remote village to the political frontlines of climate action. Despite surviving six assassination attempts, she raises her voice against illegal gold miners, land grabbers, and corporations threatening the rainforest. By her side stands her husband Hugo Loss, an operations commander at the environmental agency IBAMA, leading dangerous missions against the forest’s destroyers. Soon, she is set to become Brazil’s first Secretary of State for Indigenous Rights.
Caught between political responsibility, constant danger, and the expectation of her first child, Juma’s journey becomes a moving portrait of resistance and hope – and a powerful call to protect the planet we call home.
