The DFG-funded Service Centre for Diamond Open Access (SeDOA) invites you to attend the online event series ‘This Is How We Do It: International Best Practices for Diamond Open Access’.
SEVENTH EVENT:
On 05 October 2026, 12:00–13:00 p.m. (CEST) our guests are: Drahomira Cupa (University of Zadar/OPERAS-HR) and Iva Grabarić Andonovski (Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology/The Croatian Association for Scholarly Communication -ZNAK/CROASC): Croatian Centre for Diamond Open Access (CroDOA): The origin story
Diamond Open Access in Croatia did not develop from a policy mandate but as a practice sustained for decades by editors, libraries, universities, and information technology experts. Building on this tradition, members of the OPERAS-HR consortium signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2025 to formalize collaboration and strengthen national coordination. The signatories include the University of Zadar (OPERAS National Node for Croatia), the University of Zagreb University Computing Centre (SRCE), the University of Zagreb Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Croatian Association for Scholarly Communication (ZNAK / CROASC), and the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK). We will present the community-driven process behind the establishment of the Croatian Centre for Diamond Open Access, an initiative rooted in Croatia’s long-standing tradition of non-commercial, scholar-led publishing.
Join SeDOA for our international event series launching in 2026. "This Is How We Do It" brings together global experts to go beyond theory and dive into the practical realities of Diamond Open Access.
In each session, international guests will showcase how they implement Diamond OA at their institutions and successfully integrate these initiatives into national frameworks. Whether you are looking for scalable solutions or want to discuss common challenges with peers, this series provides a platform for honest exchange and actionable insights.
