Grid connection guidelines for power generating plants and electricity consumers

As the use of electricity from renewable sources has grown over the last 20 years, the focus has increasingly turned to grid feed-in parallel to electricity generation. At the same time, increasing complexity has made it harder for stakeholders to understand and navigate the requirements of the grid connection guidelines. The new application rule VDE-AR-N-4100 now extends these guidelines to electricity consumers and establishes certain requirements for the charging infrastructure. While generating plants have had to comply with grid-connection guidelines for some time, operators of charging infrastructure are facing new requirements, and thus certainly many unknown details.

This webinar focuses on the grid-connection guidelines and the resulting requirements for electricity producers and consumers. The issues addressed in this session are highly topical, given that grid operators are increasingly calling for standards to regulate the design and operation of charging infrastructure. Grid-connection guidelines are also playing a growing role in grid feed-in using vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology.

Understanding the grid-connection guidelines and the associated requirements is becoming increasingly vital for all manufacturers of PV inverters, combined heat and power stations (CHPs) and charging infrastructure devices. Advance knowledge and understanding of the applicable regulations and rules offer major benefits, especially for product developers and other design and development professionals.
