Prosthetic heart valves, such as bioprosthetic and mechanical heart valves, have proven over many years to be true lifesavers, yet they have substantial drawbacks: they often need to be replaced after a certain period of time, necessitating another surgery with its associated risks. Moreover, patients typically need to take anticoagulants for the rest of their lives. What if modern additive manufacturing using polymer technologies could overcomes these challenges? This live session provides an overview of this and other cardiovascular future-oriented topics, the status quo of the technologies and their advantages.
