“Why compliance with international law is essential in the Israel/Palestine conflict”

Israel's war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip and the army and settler violence in the occupied territories have once again exposed the conflicts surrounding the occupation regime and the validity of the law of war and international law in the Levant. With its uncompromising advocacy for the civilian victims of this decades-old conflict and its support for the two-state solution, the United Nations is now in open conflict with the Israeli government. The activities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) have now been banned by Israel and the UN Human Rights Council's Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories has been denied entry to Israel. She has been disinvited from German universities. Here she has her say.
