Info

Sensorik Summer School mediates essential basics of sensor technology in a user-oriented and practical way. Students and recent graduates gain in-depth insights into interdisciplinary contexts of modern sensor systems from different fields of application. In addition to interesting specialist lectures, company visits and exchange of experience are paramount. Thus, Sensorik Summer School provides the opportunity to adopt know-how specific to the start of a career to gain insights into the development work of innovative companies and institutions.

Your Programme (August 31st to September 2nd 2021)

The first day will focus on material analytics and robotics: Since highly versatile modern polymers are essential materials for shaping our future, the experts of SKZ German Plastics Centre will give you an insight into the state of the art in quality control in polymer processing. The robotics specialists of Innok Robotics GmbH will explain and show how to teach robots SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping). You will experience live how autonomous robots are already part of our everyday life and what challenges they face. During your visit at Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH, you will see what a crucial and complex role advanced sensor systems currently play in the industry, for instance in electrical power systems.

The second day will take you into the field of digitalization: At AVL Software and Functions GmbH, an innovation driver in the automotive industry, you will get to know what requirements highly complex vehicle systems have to fulfill in terms of safety and reliability. At PCO AG, a specialist for high-performance cameras and optoelectronics, you will learn how highly specialized camera systems for sophisticated applications are developed and produced.

As our current and future technologies are inconceivable without integrated circuits, the third day is dedicated to this topic: At eesy-ic GmbH, you will see how the signal chain from the sensor to the end device works and which integrated solution approaches are applicable. At Fraunhofer EZRT, a department of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS, the x-ray experts will give you exclusive insights into the development and use of high-tech x-ray sensors for non-destructive sensing and testing.
