Decoding Nature‘s Chemistry: Linking Biochemistry to Ecology

Natural products and metabolic pathways are central to interactions between organisms and have been key drivers of evolutionary innovation. This workshop brings together researchers from the fields of biochemistry, chemical ecology, evolutionary biology, and plant sciences to explore how specialized metabolism shapes ecological interactions, adaptation, and biodiversity. Topics range from plant–insect chemical communication and the evolution of metabolic pathways to natural product biosynthesis, metabolic regulation, and synthetic biology approaches. Together, these contributions provide an interdisciplinary perspective on the molecular basis of nature's chemical diversity and its evolutionary significance.
