KEEP UP - with explosion protection

Functional safety in explosion protection

The fields of functional safety and explosion protection have long developed independently of each other. Now, however, functional safety is also becoming increasingly important in explosion protection, and thus in many aspects of the safety functions of equipment, systems and components.

The webinar first provides insights into the fundamentals of functional safety and sets out its interfaces with the requirements of explosion protection. Using specific examples, it demonstrates how functional safety can contribute to reaching the objectives of explosion protection. By comparing the respective approaches, it maps out the consequences for the possible risks.

For plant operators, system integrators and component manufacturers, knowledge of functional safety is imperative as an integral part of the required explosion protection measures. An understanding of how explosion protection relates to functional safety forms the basis for appropriate development and selection of components to implement safety functions. The webinar provides an important knowledge base, particularly for managers and operators of plants and installations who need to identify risks and define the necessary safety functions.
