Building Climate Resilience:
From Science to LEGO Game
Join us for the 5th IB-Green AWARD Online Seminar
April 28, 2026 | 10:00–11:00 (IST) // 11:00-12:00 (CET)
Join us in this seminar to discover how cities create their own climate and how science, AI and innovative tools like the LEGO Urban Climate Game can help us design healthier and more climate-resilient urban environments.
Our Guest Speakers:
Silke De Pauw (Project Manager at Green Energy Park | Belgium): In her presentation, she will share real-world examples of heat stress-prone infrastructure at the Research Park in Zellik, Flanders, drawing on her experience from the IB-Green project. She will also introduce related initiatives including hydrogen hub development (Interreg EMR H2-Hubs) and a circular demo building under the Horizon Europe Reconstruct project.
Professor Lesley De Cruz (Researcher at the intersection of urban climate science and science communication/ Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMI) Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB)). In her talk, she will explain how cities generate their own climate dynamics — covering heat, wind and temperature — and demonstrate how artificial intelligence can deepen our understanding of these systems. She will also introduce the LEGO Urban Climate Game, an innovative tool she developed to make complex urban climate dynamics accessible and explorable for a broad audience.
