Smart Cities Breakfast Conference
on
October 3rd, 2019
at Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG)
in Washington DC
We are pleased to announce exciting talks and discussions at the first international Breakfast Conference
"Smart Cities and Resilient Infrastructures".
Future challenges of Smart Cities
Many cities around the world are already affected, others will face unprecedented challenges: rapid urbanization, climate change, extreme weather events as well as rapid technology advances – just to mention a few. In the next 20 years, the American Society of Civil Engineers estimates US cities need $3.6 trillion in basic infrastructure investment. As a matter of fact this solely covers only updates of existing infrastructure.
Future cities best prepared to meet the challenges are smart cities, that are not purely intelligent in a technology sense, but they have a resilient infrastructure. Still, this demand poses an immense challenge to urban communities:
What options and strategies are available to administrations, but also to individuals, to make future cities and their infrastructures more resilient?
How can smart infrastructures like smart grid systems contribute to finding answers?
Join us to discuss those topics with experts from Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and the USA .
