In designing your hands-on session for the program, please consider this:

  • We would like to offer your participants a break of about 10-15 minutes half way through the workshop (2h-session: 10 minutes after 1 hour; 3h-session: 15 minutes after 90 minutes). Coffee and snacks will be provided.
  • Weigh carefully which installations are necessary. Some participants do not have the admin rights to install new programs on their laptops, while browser-based applications may strain the internet access leading to delays. If possible, allow for both. 
  • The prior knowledge of our participants varies greatly: Some are beginners, who want to try out a tool, so they can recommend it to researchers, while others are skilled in programming, bring their own ideas, and want to experiment and create themselves. 
  • When deciding who to address, please set the goals for your workshop accordingly. If possible, define goals in your abstract.
  • Your session may leave participants asking for more. They will appreciate it if you can provide a perspective for them to continue working with the tools (e.g. conferences, workshops, working groups etc.)
  • We are happy to provide a shared folder for you to share your materials with participants if you wish to do so.

To enable participants to select sessions suitable to their experience, we would like to categorise difficulty level. Additionally, you can provide specific information on the skills required to participate in your session. 

If you have any special requirements for your sessions, please let us know via e-mail as soon as possible and by 27.11.2026 the latest.
