Reimagine Horizons: Weaving Peace Education, Technology, and Global Connections
In an era where peace, justice, and inclusive societies cannot be taken for granted and must be continuously cultivated, the imperative for global collaboration and innovative approaches to teaching and learning has never been more crucial. As the European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies (EUPeace) – an alliance of nine institutions located in regions with internal diversity and sometimes a recent history of conflict – our mission is to equip tomorrow’s citizens with the skills, knowledge, and experience to cultivate these vital conditions.
The digital transformation of higher education, coupled with advancements in technology like AI, presents both challenges and unprecedented opportunities to reimagine how we connect, teach, and learn across borders. This workshop stands as a testament to EUPeace’s commitment to multilateral collaboration and the power of collective action in addressing complex challenges to build peaceful communities. Our inspiration comes from the rebuilt bridge of Mostar, a powerful symbol of how dialogue can overcome conflict, guiding our collaborative efforts.
This 4-week virtual workshop is designed to bring together teacher educators from across the nine EUPeace institutions and our broader network to explore and co-create solutions specifically for the future of peace education within the EUPeace framework. Following a Cosmogogical approach, the focus will be on challenge-based, interdisciplinary group learning. Drawing on EUPeace’s commitment to all sciences and fields - from humanities and social sciences to natural and life sciences as well as engineering - participants will utilize technology, including AI, to envision new approaches to peace education.
The workshop will demonstrate the power of collaboration and co-creation as participants work together to enhance teaching capabilities for culturally diverse classrooms, strengthen international academic partnerships, and contribute to our shared vision of fostering peace, justice, and inclusive societies in regions with a sometimes recent history of conflict. The core idea is that major global problems can only be overcome jointly, with the close cooperation of international partners.
