Industriekultur-Landschaften der Luftfahrt. Geschichte und Perspektiven.

Das diesjährige Forum beschäftigt sich mit ehemaligen Stätten der Luftfahrt in Deutschland und Europa. Was passiert, wenn diese aufwendigen und spezialisierten Monumente der Industriekultur außer Betrieb genommen werden? Betrachtet werden Konstruktionen, technisch-ökonomische Synergien, das Thema Denkmalschutz und mögliche Nachnutzungskonzepte.
Anlass ist das 100-jährige Jubiläum des Flughafens Tempelhof, der im Oktober 1923 als Zentralflughafen Tempelhof eröffnete. Trotz der Stilllegung vor 15 Jahren sind viele Fragen zur Zukunft des Geländes weiterhin offen und in der Diskussion.

Fachexkursion am Montag, 25.09.2023, 10:00 bis ca. 17:30 Uhr
Am Montag erkunden wir in Kooperation mit dem KulturerbeNetz.Berlin vor Ort städtebauliche Potenziale und Entwicklungen rund um ehemalige Luftfahrtstätten in Berlin. Dazu gehören die Flugzeughallen in Karlshorst, der heutige Technologiepark Adlershof und der ehemalige Flugplatz Johannisthal.

Das Forum findet hybrid statt. Vor Ort am Flughafen Tempelhof und digital via Zoom. Dank unserer Kooperation mit der European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH) können wir unseren Online-Gästen eine englische Simultanübersetzung von Vorträgen und Diskussionen anbieten.

City - Country – Air
Industrial Heritage landscapes of Aviation. History and perspectives.
This year’s Forum is focused on historical sites of aviation in Germany and all around Europe. What happens, when those complex and specialized monuments of Industrial Heritage go out of service? We will have a look on the construction of those sites as well as on technical and economic synergies. Furthermore, we concentrate on heritage conservation and concepts for re-use possibilities.
The reason for this year’s topic is the 100th anniversary of the Tempelhof Airport, which opened in October of 1923 as the Zentralflughafen Tempelhof. Despite the 15 years since it’s shutdown, there are still a number of questions regarding to the future of the site.

Excursion for professionals, Monday, 25.09.2023, 10:00 am to ca. 5:30 pm
During the excursion in cooperation with KulturerbeNetz.Berlin we will explore urban potentials and developments of different aviation sites in Berlin. Therefore, we will visit the aircraft hangars in Karlshorst, the former aviation research center in Adlershof and the historical airfield in Johannisthal.

The Forum takes place in a hybrid form, onsite at Flughafen Tempelhof and digital via Zoom. Thanks to our cooperation with the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH) we are able to offer our online participants simultaneous English translations of lectures and discussions.
