Info
Studying abroad can be an exciting experience but it can also feel lonely. Being far away from family, friends, and familiar surroundings, while trying to build new connections in an unfamiliar environment, can be challenging.
Do you sometimes feel disconnected, even when surrounded by people? Or find it difficult to reach out and build new relationships?
Loneliness is a normal human experience, and it does not mean that something is wrong with you. In this workshop, we will explore what loneliness feels like, where it comes from, and what it can tell us about our need for connection.
Through interactive, creative, and body-oriented exercises, we will explore the barriers and “protective walls” that can make connecting with others difficult and look for new ways to move towards greater connectedness.
You decide how much you want to share. There is no pressure to talk about personal experiences. You are welcome to participate, observe, reflect, and engage in the exercises in whatever way feels comfortable for you.
Highlights include:
• ✅ Understand how loneliness develops and what it can tell us about our needs for connection
• ✅ Explore your own “protective walls” and when they help or hold you back
• ✅ Use body-oriented, creative, and psychodramatic exercises to explore and transform experiences of loneliness
• ✅ Discover personal resources and new possibilities for connection
Whether you are new to the country, struggling to build new relationships, or simply curious about your own experience of loneliness this workshop offers a supportive space to explore, connect, and take small steps towards feeling more connected.
