Info
The internationalisation of teaching and learning is a key element in the internationalisation efforts of universities. This is not limited to mobility abroad, but also takes other forms as part of ‘internationalisation at home’. For us as teachers, teaching in an international setting can present particular demands and challenges, but also opportunities.
The course aims to develop a resource- and potential-oriented understanding of diversity, which implies that dealing appropriately and critically with diversity in an international setting can promote the professional and personal development of students. This requires that we also scrutinise our own (unconscious) beliefs that we, as teachers, bring into the teaching process.
Learning outcomes: The participants will
- be able to demonstrate foundational knowledge and understanding of internationalization and diversity in academic teaching and learning settings.
- be able to discuss obstacles and benefits of teaching in an international context.
- be able to critically reflect on and evaluate their own (unconscious) beliefs and assumptions.
- be able to apply strategies to address student diversity and design effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes.
