Innovation Tour “BioCity Campus”
Following the German Biotech Days, participants are invited to explore Leipzig’s thriving life sciences sector on an exclusive tour of the BioCity Campus. Situated just one hour south of Berlin, Leipzig has evolved into one of Germany’s most dynamic innovation hubs. Boasting strong research institutions, a thriving start-up scene and excellent logistics infrastructure, the city provides the perfect conditions for turning scientific discoveries into successful businesses.
At the heart of this ecosystem lies the BioCity Campus Leipzig, situated on the historic grounds of Leipzig’s former trade fair. This site is home to leading research institutions and innovation drivers, including the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology (IZI), the Biotechnology-Biomedicine Centre at the University of Leipzig, and the Innovation Centre for Computer-Assisted Surgery (ICCAS).
The ecosystem also includes innovative companies such as c-LEcta, which is now part of the Kerry Group and has successfully scaled its industrial biotechnology innovations from Leipzig to global markets. The start-up accelerator medical:forge Leipzig further supports entrepreneurial growth by helping emerging medtech and digital health ventures to transform their ideas into market-ready innovations. Together, these institutions, companies, and innovation platforms demonstrate how Leipzig is connecting science, entrepreneurship, and clinical innovation within a rapidly expanding life sciences ecosystem.
The free tour concludes with informal networking and dinner at the historic Bayerischer Bahnhof.
