Course Objectives

By the end of the course participants will have a good knowledge of the principles of project management in development projects. They will have practised its principal mechanisms and be in a position to apply them.


Course Content

  • Basic elements of successful Project Management, the importance of group work and participation in Project Management (team-building processes in Project Management)
  • The phases of PCM (Project Cycle Management)
  • Impact Orientation - Managing for Development Results (MfDR) and how to successfully adapt the Logical Framework Approach and its tools to the MfDR
  • The principles of Monitoring and Evaluation

Course Methods

One of the major challenges of Project Management is interdisciplinary teamwork. The course supports participants to become familiar with working in interdisciplinary multicultural groups. The training course fosters learning from experience by giving brief trainer inputs followed by the practice of the use of relevant tools, interactive exercises, discussion and reflection.

The sessions with the trainers and the fellow participants are complemented by group exercises, assignments as well as time for self-study and reflection.

Target Group

Professionals in the field of international cooperation and development. A good command of the English language is a prerequisite.

Trainer

Gabi Struck is an agricultural engineer active in the field of international development and cooperation for 35 years. As a consultant and trainer for project management and institutional development she works with partners and their projects in Latin America, Asia, Africa, Europe and the USA. Her work is her passion. She spends her free time with her daughter and both enjoy exploring different cultures and cuisines.


Co-Trainer

A second trainer will be present during all sessions and support the Gabi Struck.


General information

The tuition fee is 1500,- euros per participant.

This includes:

  • 5-days in-person training course in Berlin
  • Coffee breaks
  • Course documentation and learning materials
  • Certificate of participation issued by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

Further individual expenses for travel, accommodation and meals or other costs, including insurance and visa fees, are not included in the price and must also be paid by the participant.  We cannot offer scholarships.
