MPN Stammtisch - November 25th 2022

The Munich Postdoc Network cordially invites you to our next MPN-Stammtisch on Friday, November 25th 2022, starting at 5:30 pm. The MPN Stammtisch will be hosted by the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching.

With this event, we would like to offer you an opportunity to meet other PostDocs in Munich, allow you to exchange about your life as a PostDoc, discuss with people from other research disciplines and maybe even make new friends!

This is why the timetable is rather casual:

  • 5:30 pm: We will start with a short presentation in the seminar room of the nmpp, provide some information about the Munich Postdoc Network and introduce ourselves.
  • 6:00 pm: We will get an exclusive and private tour through the Experimental Fusion Reactor at the MPI for Plasma Physics. This will take depending on the number of participants and our interest between 30-60 minutes.
  • around 7:00 pm: For all of you who wish to continue discussions over food and drinks, we will go to the restaurant La Pergola (Münchener Str. 4, 85748 Garching bei München) (self-paid), only one U-Bahn stop from the MPI for Plasma Physics.

Please register for the event below and let us know if you’re planning to join us directly at the restaurant La Pergola or if you would like to join the tour of the reactor.

About the Experimental Fusion Reactor:

The field of thermonuclear-controlled fusion is of pivotal importance to secure the survival of humanity in the long run. Despite its complexity, tremendous progress has been made in the past couple of decades, mainly due to the advances in high-performance computing. Empirically, the development and maintenance of experimental reactors assure that our theoretical predictions are matched by the nature of reality. On the entire planet, there are approximately five to seven working fusion reactors. One of those is found in Garching, at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. We would like to cordially invite you to a tour of our reactor, and to entertain the opportunity to learn more about the matter state that comprises more than 95% of the visible universe, plasma, and to better understand the reaction that powers all start on the cosmos.

Looking forward to seeing many of you in person!
