Webinar: Reflections on East-West Perspectives – From Academic Research to Artistic Practice

Take part in a unique online guided tour of the performative installation Reflections on East-West Perspectives, followed by an in-depth discussion with the project’s creators. Conceived by Roxana Lăpădat, Alex Halka, and Vlaicu Golcea, the installation draws on Roxana Lăpădat’s PhD research within the NARDIV project and reflects on how information circulates and becomes distorted - yesterday, under communist propaganda, and today, in the era of social media and artificial intelligence.  After the tour, Roxana Lăpădat (curator and conceptor) will be joined by Joachim Umlauf (Director of the Goethe-Institut Bucharest) to explore how archives can be reactivated and how artistic research can serve as a valuable academic methodology.

The performative installation Reflections on East-West Perspectives premiered in June 2025 at the Multicultural Centre of Transilvania University in Brașov and at Cer Deschis Gallery in Sibiu. It is currently on view at the Goethe-Institut in Bucharest and will next travel to Vienna in September 2025, where it will be presented at the Romanian Cultural Institute. This webinar and the performative installation is part of the Horizon EU funded project NARDIV - United in Narrative Diversity? Cultural (Ex-)Change and Mutual Perceptions in Eastern and Western Europe at the threshold of the digital age, which is financed under the Horizon Europe Programme of the European Union grant agreement no. 101095171.
