Adaptive system health management to increase safety, reliability and efficiency

One of the main challenges with autonomous systems is an appropriate diagnosis and safety management to ensure system health and operability. To solve these challenges, systems need to be aware of malfunctions and potential issues of single sensors or modules within the systems.

Our online seminar "Safety platforms for autonomous systems", introduces concepts to achieve self-awareness of autonomous systems presented by Marc Dreiser, Researcher at Fraunhofer IKS. How such concepts could be transferred into practice will be shown using the example of AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture), a worldwide development partnership of vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and companies from the automotive electronics, semiconductor and software industry. In addition, Rinat Asmus, current chair of AUTOSAR and project lead at BMW, will report on the status quo of autonomous driving at BMW. The online seminar is rounded out by an outlook into the future of adaptive autonomous systems by Dr. Gereon Weiß, Department Head at Fraunhofer IKS.

What you can expect from this online seminar

  •   Application-oriented self-awareness concepts for autonomous systems
  •   Information about adaptive and adaptable software architectures
  •   Insights into the practical application of System Health Management in the Automotive industry
  •   Outlook into the future development of adaptive autonomous platforms

System Health Management will allow the user to aggregate platform agnostic health information of multiple platforms, to coordinate system wide error handling across multiple controllers and virtual machines.
