How to get to Graz

By car: The city of Graz is connected to major highways, the A2 and the A9. It is about 200km away from Vienna, with an estimated journey of 2h 20min; around 350km from Budapest, with an estimated journey of 3h 50min. Please keep in mind that the parking situation in Graz is difficult and that the “Aufsteirern” festival is taking place.

By train: Graz Hauptbahnhof is the nearest train station if you consider arriving by train. It is served by long distance Railjet and InterCity express trains of the ÖBB with links to Vienna, Budapest, Munich and others. Please consult https://www.oebb.at/

By plane: If you are arriving by plane through Vienna International Airport, you have the option of a train connection starting directly from the airport. A train to Graz leaves the airport every hour, with a direct connection every two hours (other connection require a short transfer at Wien Hauptbahnhof (Vienna main station)

The city of Graz has its own airport, with links to Frankfurt, Zurich and Vienna. However, connections might be limited more expensive. Busses and trains offer a direct connection to the city of Graz.

During your stay in Graz, please keep in mind that the conference takes place during “Aufsteirern” – Austria’s biggest folk culture festival. If you are planning on spending additional time in the region, expect hotels to have limited availability and higher prices than usual. Any arrangements for extended stays must be undertaken by you (or your office manager). ACIPSS can take no liability for this.
