About the MEM Volunteer Center
MEM – Mein Engagement in Mainz is the Volunteer Center of the City of Mainz.
MEM provides information, advice, and support to people who are interested in volunteering. We encourage people to get involved, provide training for volunteers, and connect them with opportunities that match their interests and skills.
At the same time, MEM serves as a central point of contact for nonprofit organizations, associations, and initiatives that already work with volunteers or are looking to do so.
The MEM Volunteer Center helps people find volunteering opportunities that are right for them. It answers questions about volunteering and provides information about specific opportunities in and around Mainz. This gives anyone interested in volunteering the guidance, contacts, and support they need to take their first steps and get involved.

About Katharina Schön
As Head of the Mainz Volunteer Center, Katharina Schön is passionate about strengthening and developing civic engagement. In her day-to-day work, she brings people together, supports innovative projects, and works to make volunteering more visible and impactful.
With many years of experience in the field of volunteering and an in-depth understanding of local government structures, she is well acquainted with both the challenges and opportunities that come with volunteering today. She is particularly committed to creating sustainable conditions that enable volunteers to thrive and to inspiring new groups of people to get involved.
