We are pleased to offer a Spinn.Bar in cooperation with the SLE (Centre for Rural Development) in Berlin on the 27th of March.

Topic: Diversity in development cooperation, human rights, and peace work – How diversity-oriented are employers, and what does it take to achieve this?

While the topic of diversity is widely discussed, it is often reduced to a buzzword or remains superficial, focusing only on language without deeper engagement. We want to explore what this actually means in the context of development cooperation, human rights, and peace work.

Even though development cooperation and human rights and peace work operate in diverse contexts, their organizational structures are not always diversity-oriented in terms of recruitment and internal development. Criticism is often raised about how colonial structures are reproduced in program/project work, and how power dynamics are rarely questioned, especially in the Human Development Peace Nexus. But what about the employing organizations themselves?

We are organizing an interactive panel discussion with speakers working in and for development and human rights organizations.

Wir freuen uns, dass wir am 27. März eine Spinn.Bar in Kooperation mit dem SLE (Seminar für Ländliche Entwicklung) in Berlin anbieten können.

Thema: Diversity  in der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit, Menschenrechts- und Friedensarbeit. 
Und wie diversitätsorientiert sind die Arbeitgebenden und was braucht es, um dies zu erreichen?

Während das Thema Diversity ja zwar in aller Munde ist, oft aber auch als Modethema Lippenbekenntnis oder auf dem Level der Sprachpflege stehen bleibt, wollen wir einige Ebenen darunter gucken, was das eigentlich in der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit und in der Menschenrechts- und Friedensarbeit heißt.

Auch wenn die Entwicklungszusammenarbeit und Menschenrechts- und Friedensarbeit in divers geprägten Kontexten arbeitet, ist sie in ihren eigenen Organisationsstrukturen nicht immer diversitätsorientiert, was die eigene Personalgewinnung und Entwicklung anbelangt. 
Die Kritik, dass koloniale Strukturen in der Programm-/Projektarbeit oftmals reproduziert werden und Machtstrukturen nicht per se hinterfragt werden, wird ja auch im Kontext des Human Development Peace Nexus diskutiert. Aber wie sieht es in den arbeitgebenden Organisationen selbst aus?

Wir wollen eine interaktive Paneldiskussion mit 4 Impulsgebenden von Entwicklungs- und Menschenrechtsorganisationen sowie einer Vertreterin des BI*PoC Netzwerkes https://bipoc-in-ngos.de/gestalten.
