Science College 2026: Responsibility for my own research?
14.07.2026, 09:30 - ca. 16:30 h, VZ RUB
Also join for RS Certificate
What is it about?
As doctoral researchers, you are engaged in the creation of new scientific knowledge. You conduct and evaluate research, manage projects, and share your findings supervised by your first (and second) supervisors.
Research is complex, subject to change, and often uncertain, with findings that can be ambiguous. Therefore, researchers need not only research knowledge and professional skills but also a clear understanding of their responsibilities.
This year’s Science College aims to foster a discussion on the responsibilities of doctoral researchers for their own research. You are invited to explore
- - which responsibilities doctoral researchers should, could or have to take on
- - which responsibilities they share with supervisors
- - what expectations might be associated with these responsibilities
- - own concepts for research responsibility
Through facilitated discussions, group activities, and interactive exchanges, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences, reflect on your responsibilities, and learn from the insights of your peers and experienced researchers.
How we organise the day?
In the first half of the program, experienced researchers from various research fields at RUB will engage with participants through short inputs and panel discussions to explore the responsibilities of doctoral researchers for their own projects.
The program’s second half will feature thematic focus sessions, with RUB experts offering insights into two areas of responsibility:
- - How to manage professional feedback?
- - Who ‚owns‘ research data?
