Background and Motivation
Artificial Intelligence (AI) already dominates areas such as computer vision and speech processing. However, innovative new hardware concepts are needed in order to efficiently implement AI applications such as autonomous driving, personalised healthcare, smart cities, the Internet of Things and Economy 4.0.
The vision of the NeuroSys Clusters4Future* is to develop neuro-inspired - so-called ‘neuromorphic’ - hardware that is needed for the development of future European AI hardware and technological independence in this ethically and economically sensitive area.
Building on the structure of the NeuroSys Future Cluster and following the example of existing RWTH Expert Hubs the new NeuroSys Expert Hub:
- acts as an interface between the Cluster’s research (community) and the regional start-up ecosystem;
- supports the transfer of novel, neuromorphic technologies from research into application;
- promotes interdisciplinary exchange, particularly between students/researchers interested in founding a company, start-ups and relevant stakeholders in the context of neuromorphic computing.
Thanks to excellent expert advice and support, promising technologies and business ideas are to be successfully realised and thus contribute to establishing the Aachen region as the world's leading location for neuromorphic hardware.
This kick-off event introduces important aspects, new concepts and useful insights for AI evolution. Following a series of short presentations by various experts, you will have the chance to connect with speakers, institute representatives and founders during a lively networking session.
*The NeuroSys Future Cluster is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
