Info
Wind Bearing Forum Hamburg is a conference that combines experiences from research, design, and operation of all bearings in wind turbines. We welcome both presentations which shed light on issues and solutions in field operations as well as scientific aspects. The forum serves to connect experts from both areas.
Large Bearing Laboratory has been conducting research in wind turbine bearings for more than ten years. The idea of holding our own conference has been there for a few years now, but this year we take the leap and get to it. The forum will have talks about the latest advances (and also prevailing issues) of wind turbine bearings, great opportunities for networking, a tour through the facilities of the Large Bearing Laboratory and an evening event in the castle of Bergedorf on September 23, 2025.
Date: September 23 - 24, 2025
Venue: H4 Hotel, Holzhude 2, 21029 Hamburg, Germany
Admission fee: The admission fee for participants is €750 net (lunch, drinks, and Evening event at the Bergedorf castle are included).

Contributions as speaker:
We are going to accept two types of contributions: a talk or a pitch.
Talk: A talk is a 20-minute presentation plus 10 minutes for discussion. The talk shall present technical findings and results. Commercial presentations are not accepted and any content about the presenter's organization shall be kept to a minimum of one slide / 1 minute. The abstract has a maximum length of three full pages including figures and references. Word and Latex abstract templates will be made available shortly. Submissions from academia and industry are welcome. Please highlight in your abstract the novelty, importance, and substance of the topic.
Pitch: A pitch is a 3-minute short, slideless presentation. Pitches can describe technical ideas, solutions to bearing issues, or the bearing issues themselves. The idea is to present a short topic, that encourages later interaction with other participants. Perhaps somebody wants to develop your idea with you, or has a solution for your issues? Pitches will take place in the mornings to allow further discussions in the breaks. For a pitch, you apply with the pitch title and a brief summary (one or a few sentences) of its content.
Abstract submissions are accepted until April 30, 2025. All applications for contributions are going to be checked by our Editorial Board. The Editorial Board consists of experienced members both from industry and science and its industrial side covers the entire value chain from bearing over turbine manufacturers to operators and service companies. Please use the Word or Latex templates.
Please submit your file via email: bearingforum@iwes.fraunhofer.de
All contributors will get a 50% reduction on admission fee.
