Ready, Set, Research! – A Strong Start to Your Doctoral Thesis
Target group: Doctoral candidates in the early stages of their doctoral thesis who have already received their notification of acceptance from the doctoral association (“Promotionsverband”).
Learning objectives:
In this introductory seminar, "Ready, Set, Research! – A Strong Start to Your Doctoral Thesis," you will learn how to formulate a clear project vision, set achievable goals, and secure approval from supervisors and key stakeholders. You will develop a structured yet adaptable project plan, allowing flexibility for unexpected situations. Additionally, you will establish a 'controlling cycle' to proactively identify potential risks and issues. You will also gain skills to master critical situations and effectively manage the typical ups and downs encountered during doctoral research. Throughout the seminar, you will directly apply project management methods and techniques to your own doctoral project.
Networking with colleagues, supervisors, and other relevant contacts is another integral part of the seminar.
By the end of the seminar, you will have developed a clear strategic approach for your doctoral thesis. In the follow-up session, we will share experiences, discuss best practices, and address any open questions.
