Doctoral Defence Training: Strategic Preparation
After a long and intensive period of scholarly work, the doctoral defense represents a highlight in a doctoral candidate’s academic career. Given its significance, however, the defense is also associated with a variety of concerns and several myths. This workshop provides background information on the basic structure and standard procedures and, in particular, offers practical tips for systematically preparing for the defense.
The workshop is a half-day session featuring presentations, an exchange of experiences, and exercises to help participants prepare for the defense. The event is suitable both for doctoral candidates who are already making concrete plans for their defense and for those who would like to familiarize themselves with the requirements early on.

Lecturer
Simon Wolf is a certified consultant, trainer, coach, and author. During his doctoral studies in general rhetoric and argumentation theory, he has gained experience in conference organization, chairing session, academic presentations, and publications. For over 15 years, he has been sharing this experience in training sessions for doctoral candidates and postdocs.
