Hands-on-Training „Automotive Security“ – Focus on Software (2 days)
What protocols are used by modern control units (ECUs) in vehicles? What potential attack surfaces do I need to consider and how do I automate security testing? This course will give you an overview of relevant tools and background information that are necessary for the automated testing of vehicles and ECUs. The focus is on attacks and tests at the protocol level.
Training topics and focus areas:
- Common vehicle architectures and network topologies
- Understanding CAN communication and attacks
- Relevant protocols in current model series
- Hands-on experience through scans on ECUs
- Attacks on diagnostic logs
- Security access mechanisms of current vehicle models
- Automate security testing
- Adaptation of automated tests to your own requirements
Target group:
- Safety engineers/developers/designers from the automotive industry
- Project managers, technical project managers
- System testers, system architects
- Cybersecurity managers and coordinators
Requirements:
- Participants need a functional laptop for the practical sessions (at least Intel i5 / 8 GB RAM / SSD / free access to all interfaces), pre-installed with a virtual machine (alternatively Linux) with access to the physical interfaces of the host laptop.
- The virtual machine is provided by the trainer in advance. Furthermore, participants should hold basic technical knowledge of micro-controllers from the automotive industry.
